The Smoky Hill Chalk Member of the Niobrara Chalk was deposited between 87 and 82 million years ago. Note that the Late Coniacian is unequally divided into two zones: a lower zone (P. pemiciosa) from the base of the chalk to about MU 5 and a brief

upper zone (Spinaptycbus n. sp).
